Cassi's AFI and Green Day

I just saw AFI and Green day in Denver. Of course AFI was amazing, but wow I never thought I would miss the feeling of my ribs crushing upon impact when Davey screams. There wasn't a mosh pit and I wasn't being crushed, I felt weird not leaving the show without my hips and ribs having welts. Now of course if I would have stayed in the pit for Green day that problem would have definitely been solved, however I am not that big of a Green Day fan to suffer though that and plus Green Day really puts on a show for a stadium and you don' t need to be in the pit to enjoy it. However, Davey came on stage to sing with Billie Joe and I wanted to rush back down to the pit, I just can't stand to be that far away from him, it is torture. Anyway, AFI was amazing but the small venues are so much better! When you have an entire auditorium cramped full of people screaming every lyric Davey sings it is just amazing and to feel the crowd squashing you to during the heighten parts of the songs---just amazing. My constant complaint is always MORE AFI but for this show I really mean it. The Pop disaster tour I went to had Jimmy Eat World, Green Day and Blink 182- Jimmy Eat World had a short set but Green day and Blink's sets were about equal, both with props and stage lights, I think it should have been more like that for AFI and Green Day. Just seeing Green Day's amazing show is worth the high ticket prices. They play for almost 3 hours and Billie Joe never stops or loses energy. Wow can he perform- he sings for 3 hours straight and sounds exactly like the albums. Not only do they have like a billion and one hits that they sing but they also through in a medley of a dozen or so classic rock hits- the show was mind blowing.

However for a frantic, obsessive, my life is AFI fan (like myself), I would definitely not pay these ticket prices to follow AFI around. Plus they have so much security, there is no way to stalk the band, even politely, which I personally try to do.

AFI/Greenday Show

Hey,

Cassi and I went to the AFI/Greenday show on Saturday at Fiddler's Green/Comfort Dental Amphitheater. The show was great but I was kind of disappointed that AFI only played 10 songs. Also, they didn't use any stage lights or any things like that. Let's just say there was no flare. With that said the band did a great job. I would not have missed it for the world.

Now on to the Greenday part of the show. It was really amazing. It was a big production with fireworks, water hoses, flame throwers, confetti, and awesome music. Greenday played for two and a half hours. They played a few covers that really got the crowd going and basically all of their hits. They also had a bunch of people from the crowd come up and sing and dance and such. It was something that I am so happy I saw. I don't know if I will see them again but I'm glad I saw this show.

For those of you that don't know, AFI and Greenday have been friends for a long time. AFI recorded and EP called AFI EP on Billie Joe's record label, Adeline Records, back in 1998. This picture is from the Sing the Sorrow days, so around 2003 or so.

That's it for now.

One Month

My Wedding is coming up in a month, in which the wedding planning is getting strangely realistic. Wedding planning feels like prom committee/ getting ready for prom on steroids. You obsess about the dress, hair, make-up, tuxs, flowers…prom stuff, but then you also have to worry about the venue, catering, rentals and people. One huge thing I am very happy about is controlling the music. I couldn’t even dance at my high school prom because the music was so horribly awful- disgusting rap, bump and grind. The only song Daniel and I got to dance was the one country slow song they played. I mean that is how bad the music was, that the country song was the best, pathetic. Daniel and I are extremely picky when it comes to music. We have spent so much time making our playlist. It has been hard because AFI and Rise Against you can’t really dance to at a wedding. I would image it would be awkward for a lot of people and clear the dance floor, so we mostly chose 80’s dance music. I find 80’s dance music awesome and hilarious. For the whole wedding I am trying to create fun, but not cheesy.

Daniel and I have also been researching honeymoons forever! First, it was Scandinavia then New England then specifically Maine, then South Dakota and Minnesota, and we ended on Durango, CO. They just had to be getting cheaper and cheaper, luckily we live in an awesome state to vacation in. Ending with- scary for the wedding to happen because then I have to be an adult and get a career job… yeah really scary, I think I just want to go back to school.

Things to Get Excited About

So now that summer is winding down, it's time to talk about what there is to do in the winter (Colorado doesn't really have a fall). When you live in Colorado it's pretty easy to have fun and stay busy in the winter. You could go skiing/snowboarding, ice climbing, ice fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, the list could go on and on. But if you don't do any of that stuff or hate the outdoors there's still some fun stuff to do. When I get board and can't do any of the above I love doing the following. Hockey starts in September and having the NHL Package from Comcast is awesome. Cassi and I watch a ton of hockey, we cheer for the Avalanche and the Penguins. Other than that, new seasons of the Office and Bones come on (A ton of other shows come back on too). These are about the only TV shows Cassi and I watch religiously. If TV is not your thing, there is always sitting down in a coffee shop or next to a fire and just reading a book. Cassi and I don't have a fire place but Cassi makes me read to her while she is getting ready for bed, so it works out. There is a lot more stuff to do but it would take a while to talk about them all. If you need some ideas…pick up a hobby like knitting or sewing, jewelry making, model building, or cooking.

P.S.

If you are good friends of Cassi and I there is one other thing you can do this September, come you our wedding. It will be awesome.

Have Fun,

Daniel

We Like to Watch Movies

Hello Again,

So Cassi and I watch a ton of movies. If you don’t have Netflix I strongly recommend getting it. We have a PS3 so we can stream some movies directly which is a plus, and it doesn’t cost extra. Anyway, about movies….”Kick Ass” came out today and I am so excited to buy it. We saw it in theaters, and let me tell you it was f**k**g awesome. As far as superhero movies go, the story blows pretty much every other movie away, Batman being an exception. It also doesn’t try to be to unbelievable, no one is a mutant or crazy rich, they are just good at beating the shit out of bad guys. Another thing that sets this movie apart is that the one of the main characters is a little girl. This movie shows that if you want to have a girl play a role you don’t have to have her is some scandalous outfit like in “Watchmen” or “Sin City”. Anyway, if you haven’t seen this movie you should do so at the earliest convenience.
