Durango is like 9 hours away, that is a long drive for never leaving the state. Also driving to the southwest corner of Colorado there are no big towns, all the bathrooms are pretty nasty. Once you are on the mountains though, it is beautiful. The train ride takes all day, from 9am to 6:30pm, and costs $100 a person, but I think it was worth it. The sights are beautiful and you can appreciate it and take a ton of pictures since you do not have to drive yourself or pay attention to where your are going. We stayed at O-BAR-O cabins, which was adorable! A queen size bed, a mini-kitchen (still larger than my Paris apartment kitchen), a comfy couch, a private deck and grill over looking the river and I saved the best for last- a large stone fireplace next to the bed. Our first day there we actually got to use the fireplace because it rained all day. We drove up into the mountains and by Lake Vallecito and the foggy, rainy atmosphere made the surrounds extra majestic and bewitching. The rest of the trip I had a fever and was completely nauseous so it was a blur. Now I’ll just post some pictures because I think they are the most fun part about blogs and facebook anyway. Like Hannah I enjoy your artwork and food pictures and Briehn I love your doggie pictures!
BEAUTIFUL! I have never been to Durango, I'll have to go now. And stay in a cabin just like that one. And the kitchen may be bigger than our Paris kitchen but I bet that guy didn't live across the street to distract you when a scary man comes rapping at the door.
ReplyDeleteThat is correct, I am glad no one came knocking on our door we were out in the wildness so then instead of "Taken" it would be a weird horror movie, like "Friday the 13th" since we were by water.
